WHAT IS A DRUID
The original Druids
were the scholars, teachers, healers and seers of the Celtic people.
The term Druid may
mean "oak wise" from dru or drus meaning "oak" and "wid"
to know or to see. But it is more likely to have originated from dru
or drui meaning "firm" and "solid" from which words "true", "oak", and
tree. In even earlier times the name may have been give to any wise
person man or woman.
After 500Bce (before the common era) a different kind of druid emerged.
That took the knowledge of the Celtic branch of the Northern European
Tradition and organized it to serve a more complex social need.
